Nhu's Recs: Top Quirky and Cute Date Ideas in London
Want to impress your date? Here’s a list of high-quality spots that have been tested and learnt!
Activity-Based Dates: Tired of Bowling? Try These Fun Ideas
Bat & Ball - We wanted to do darts for our outing, so we first tried to book Flight Club, but they only take bookings for groups of more than four. We ended up at Bat & Ball instead, which had the perfect vibe. Not only do they have darts, but also mini golf and karaoke!
iFly - you know this wasn’t my original idea because why would I want to skydive in a massive tube in the middle of the O2? Turns out, it was pretty fun!
All Nighter Movie Marathon - okay, this is definitely my idea, because why wouldn’t you want to stay up all night, I mean ALL NIGHT to watch movies? Picturehouse Central does this a few times a year, and it was very romantic seeing Picadilly Circus from their rooftop bar early in the morning. I wouldn’t recommend this for your first date, but hey, you do you!
Watching Football at a Pub - based on a true story haha. The FIFA Women's World Cup is approaching, so why not take your date to a cute pub and watch football together? You might score some nice goals at the end of the night!
Cocktail bars: We Love a Cosy Spot for Intimate Conversation!
Nightjar - nice quirky place with live music. Make sure to book a table through their website.
Lounge Bohemia - one of my favourite cocktail bars in London. The menu was so creative and I love the concept of every one of the cocktails. Don’t really enjoy how we have to book a table via Instagram.
Happiness Forgets - a little spot but highly recommended for the taste in Shoreditch.
Mr Fogg's Pawnbrokers - I usually stay away from chain places, but this one is really cute and surprisingly affordable in Soho.
Food Spots: People Who Love to Eat are the Best People!
Sông Quê Café - We (I) love Vietnamese food, and this is the nearest one to my boyfriend’s place, so we always go here. It's not my favourite, but I give it 7/10 for convenience.
Noodle & Beer - basic Dan Dan noodles with beer, perfect for a date night!
Yard Sale Pizza - As you can tell, we get lazy a lot of the time, so we love staying local in Shoreditch. Definitely my favourite pizza spot in the whole of London though!
Urban Pantry - One of the nicest brunches I’ve had in a while! As a West London girlie, I’ve always wanted to discover Chiswick and this little spot was surprisingly good, so much better than most spots I’ve had in East London (sorry not sorry!). Highly recommended for a quintessential West London experience.
Mamapen - I’ve seen so many reviews online about this place and wanted to check it out. I’m not normally a fan of fusion food (because they don’t do it that well in London), but this spot was quite decent, a nice intro to Cambodian food (apparently it’s the only Cambodian restaurant in London!)
Le Petite Bretagne - a little crepe spot recommended by a French friend. French boyfriend said the taste was decent, but it was a bit expensive for the portion. Does it matter, though? We love overpriced food in London.
I’m hoping this is only part one, as my Google Map is full of pins. Fingers crossed laziness doesn’t take over. Let me know if you enjoy the recs and what I should add to the list!
I went to an iFly in Milton Keynes and hated it
I’d rather play darts 😂
